"Trustee Glant Havenar spoke in favor of relaxing the restriction on goats and increasing the number of chickens allowed to 20. Havenar read a letter from resident Lindsey Leiker urging goats be allowed within the town boundaries since they make good pets, eat noxious weeds such as poison ivy, help with fire mitigation, and provide emotional support. Havenar said the events of 2020 had led her to place a higher value on self-sufficiency and said she wanted to rethink the number of acres required to keep goats."
A year after Palmer Lake's Reservoir Trail dog ban, some residents would like to bring dogs back
"It’s saving our land, it’s saving our resources,” Havenar said. “I miss taking my dog on the trail. I don’t feel comfortable being on that trail without a dog. But I have to leave the trails and our community better for the next generation.”
Havenar is in favor of creating a licensing system but said due to other more pressing issues, the ban hasn’t been a focus for the board."
Winterfest tradition returns to the ice of Palmer Lake
"We want all the donations to immediately go back into the town. People will be donating to a great cause," Havenar said. "This is a place where people truly know the meaning of neighbor. You want it to be beautiful and pristine for the next generation. Our primary objective is to put a little boat launch, something small for paddleboats and kayaks, as no motorized boats are allowed on the lake. We want it to be a place where people want to bring their kids."
